Abstrak

This study discusses the long journey of the Indonesian nation in achieving independence, from the pre-independence period to its culmination in the Proclamation of August 17, 1945. The struggle of the Indonesian people against colonialism began during the Dutch colonial era, which lasted for more than three centuries, followed by the Japanese occupation during World War II. This study highlights the crucial roles of national figures, independence movements, and global political changes that influenced the dynamics of the independence struggle. It also examines the transformation of nationalism and the spirit of patriotism that grew among the people as a response to oppression and exploitation. The Proclamation of Indonesian Independence symbolizes the triumph of a long struggle and marks the birth of a free and sovereign Indonesian state.
