Menggali Nilai Sejarah dan Potensi Candi Wonorejo Kabupaten Madiun sebagai Sumber Belajar IPS
Abstract
This study aims to explore the historical values and potential of Wonorejo Temple in Madiun Regency and to analyze its utilization as a learning resource in Social Studies (IPS). The research employed a descriptive qualitative method with data collected through observation, documentation, and in-depth interviews with the temple caretaker, visitors, Social Studies teachers, and the local community. The findings reveal that Wonorejo Temple holds significant historical value as a Hindu heritage site that once served as a place of worship and remains a symbol of local cultural identity. From an educational perspective, the temple has strong potential to be used as a contextual learning resource, strengthening students’ understanding of local history, fostering national pride, and instilling cultural wisdom. Interviews with visitors indicated that direct experiences at the temple provided a deeper understanding compared to classroom learning, while interviews with the caretaker highlighted the importance of community involvement in preserving cultural heritage. These findings demonstrate that utilizing Wonorejo Temple as a Social Studies learning resource can support contextual, experiential, and culture-based education.
