Abstract

Liturgy is an expression of the church's faith that not only functions as a form of worship but also as a means of shaping the spirituality of the congregation. In the context of Indonesia's diversity and dynamism, the meaning of liturgy needs to be developed contextually in order to remain relevant to the lives of the faithful. This study aims to analyze the theological meaning of liturgy and its role in building contextual spirituality among congregations in Indonesia. The research method used is a theological-liturgical approach with a literature study of biblical texts, church traditions, and the development of contextual liturgy in Indonesia. The results of the study show that contextual liturgy is able to bring about a living faith experience, unite the congregation in fellowship, and foster awareness of God's presence in the realities of daily life. By integrating local cultural elements and Gospel values, liturgy becomes a means of forming a relevant and transformative faith for Indonesian congregations. This research confirms that contextual liturgy does not change the essence of faith, but rather deepens the spirituality of the congregation through meaningful and down-to-earth worship experiences.
